OCONTO COUNTY, Wis. — Freezing rain ices up highways and causes multiple crashes Tuesday in Oconto County.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office says it began receiving multiple calls of crashes around noon.
Among the calls was a multi-vehicle crash where U.S. highways 41 and 141 spilt in the town of Abrams. That caused the highway to be shut down for a short period of time, which also created several traffic backups.
The sheriff’s office says by 5 p.m., it took 24 accident reports involving 40 vehicles, though no serious injuries have been reported.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office had to call in additional staff to help with the large number of calls.
