WHBY’s Dave Edwards is on the road to recovery following open heart surgery.
Speaking with listeners, the AM Fox Valley host shared that he recently underwent quintuple bypass surgery. Dave said he began noticing in recent months that something did not feel right and decided to check in with his cardio team.
Dave has a history of heart issues, including a heart attack in 2008 that required stents, which had held up well over the years. Further testing revealed more serious concerns.
Adding to an already difficult time, Dave learned on New Year’s Eve morning that his mother had passed away. That same day, he underwent a procedure to determine what was happening with his heart.
“You need bypass surgery,” Dave recalled his doctor telling him.
On January 2, Dave underwent quintuple bypass surgery. He says recovery is expected to take four to six weeks, and he is hopeful to return to the airwaves during the second week of February.
“I am one of the worst people to sit around and do nothing,” Dave shared, adding that he is grateful for the care he received.
