APPLETON, Wis. — The city of Appleton is trying to shut down an illegal short-term rental.
A cease and desist letter has been sent to the owners of Stateview Commons — located in the 500 block of W. College Avenue — to stop using the second floor of the building as a rooming house.
Mayor Jake Woodford says the facility lacks required fire sprinklers and violates other building codes…..
The cease and desist letter was sent to Stateview Commons back in July, but they have continued to rent out the second-floor rooms.
The city offered a conditional license in September if the owners made progress toward compliance with the codes, but no response was ever provided.
