APPLETON, Wis. — One person is dead following a crash in Appleton.
Police say a tow truck towing a dump truck had turned east onto Calumet Street from the northbound State Highway 441 off-ramp around noon Thursday when it entered the median. The dump truck, which was loaded with sand, became detached and tipped over onto a vehicle that was stopped in westbound traffic on Calumet.
The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation.
