APPLETON, Wis–The owner of an Appleton bar is offering an apology after denying a customer with a guide dog entrance to his business. Jesse Valeri of The Flagstone Bar and Grill has taken to Facebook to issue the public mea culpa, explaining that he thought guide dogs are covered by state statutes barring animals from businesses that serve commercially-prepared food.
However, there is a carve-out to that statute that is covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act for service animals. Valeri is asking anyone that might know the customer to provide contact information so he can make a personal apology.
