More people came to EAA AirVenture than first thought.
Spokesman Dick Knapinski says the final attendance total was about 642,000 people. That’s a nearly seven percent increase from last year’s record. The initial estimate was 625,000.
Knapinski says a 2017 study found the event has an economic impact of about $170 million in five nearby counties. He believes the actual total this year is higher, because of the attendance increases since then.
About 40,000 people camped on the EAA grounds, even though they had problems with mud early on, because of heavy rains.
