The Mile of Music festival is back in downtown Appleton today.
About 220 artists and bands will play around 950 sets, through Sunday.
Co-founder Dave Willems says they’ve never been worried about finding a big-name artist, or getting someone that will break out within five years. While he believes some of them will, they want to treat all of the musicians like they’re headliners.
Willems says they all have their own sounds, and their own songs, and that’s what people are coming to the festival to hear.
In past years, singers like LOLO, and bands like Wild Adriatic, have become local favorites. Willems says that typically happens with a handful of artists every year. He thinks “Freddy and Francine” and “Chicago Farmer” are a couple of candidates this year.
