A fire put itself out last night in Appleton.
Firefighters were called to a home near City Park around 10 p.m.
Lt. Steve Unruh says the people who live there were out and when they returned heard the smoke alarm going off and saw that everything was black.
He says firefighters found smoke and heat but no flames.
The home is in the 700 block of East Eldorado Street and Unruh says it was the third fire in recent weeks that started because something on top of a stove caught fire.
Damage is estimated at $40,000.
