A move by former Republican Governor Scott Walker is helping lower health insurance rates.
Governor Evers says on average, they’re expected to drop by 3.2 percent next year. Walker created a reinsurance program in 2018, and it took effect this year.
Without it, rates were estimated to climb by nine percent.
Evers is calling the drop “encouraging.” He’s still pushing to accept federal funding to expand Medicaid.
