The Wisconsin Humane Society in Green Bay is concerned about a proposal by state officials to creates tighter restrictions for dogs and puppies transferred to Wisconsin from out of state.
The rule would require all dogs to have negative Brucellosis and heart worm tests.
Canine Brucellosis is a bacterial infection that affects the reproductive organs of animals.
In rare cases it can be transferred from dogs to humans.
Shaina Allen is with the humane society.
She says the proposal targets non-life threatening health problems.
She says the agency adopted out almost 2,900 dogs that were from out of state last year alone.
She believes is the new rule was in effect, many of them would have been euthanized.
Allen is asking people to e-mail the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection to voice concerns about the rule change.
