The oldest continuously running Boy Scout troop in the Fox Valley is celebrating a big milestone tomorrow.
Troop 2 in Appleton is 100 years old.
Scoutmaster Ron Litsheim says they’ve been connected with First United Methodist Church in downtown Appleton from the start. He says while Troop 1 was obviously the first one to register, that group disbanded for several years and started up again.
Troop 2 almost folded in 2013 because only six scouts were registered. But a number of boys transferred, and there are now more than 50 members.
The troop is holding a celebration at the church, a little after 1:22 p.m. tomorrow. Before that, scouts will be working on community service projects around Appleton.
