FEMA is in the Appleton area today, looking at damage from last month’s storm, and meeting with government leaders.
The state Emergency Management department is helping by collecting pictures and other information.
Spokeswoman Lori Getter says FEMA will be visiting 18 counties and two tribes. She thinks communities around the state spent more than $18 million removing trees and fixing roads.
Getter says they’ll go through those figures to see what costs are eligible. She says if everything checks out, Governor Evers will ask President Trump to issue a federal disaster declaration.
After that, she believes they could hear a decision within a few days or a few weeks.
