Organizers of the biggest single-day fundraiser in northeast Wisconsin are hoping to set a new record.
The U.S. Venture Open supports efforts to fight poverty in the Fox Cities, Oshkosh, and Green Bay areas. The company’s Greg Vandenberg says they hope to bring in $4.3 million. He says more than 900 golfers will participate, which is also a record.
Last year’s event raised a record of more than $3.1 million. The money goes to the Basic Needs Giving Partnership fund. The community foundations in each area then hands out grants.
Actor Matthew McConaughey is this year’s featured guest and he’ll be at tonight’s dinner.
