Technology helped Outagamie County Sheriff’s deputies catch a suspected car thief yesterday morning.
Lieutenant Ryan Carpenter says the owner has OnStar and the company tracked the car to the area of I-41 and Highway U near Wrightstown. He says deputies tried to stop the driver but the 17-year-old boy turned from Highway U into the Apple Creek Campground.
Carpenter says that’s when OnStar stepped in again. He says they stopped the vehicle and locked the suspect in the car until officer could arrest them.
Carpenter says they’re also fortunate OnStar was able to stop the car because the teen was in the playground area and there were children nearby.
The owner reported the car was stolen in Little Chute.
