A church is buying the former Thompson Community Center on College Avenue in downtown Appleton.
The Core plans to move from its current location, at the corner of Superior and Franklin streets.
Lead Pastor Tim Glende says they’re looking to make extensive renovations on the inside. He says they’re working to raise money, and they’d like to start construction in the fall. He hopes they can open in the middle of next summer.
Glende says they started searching for possible locations several months ago, because of growth.
The Thompson Community Center closed its doors in the spring of 2016. Many of the services moved to the former St. Bernadette School, on the city’s east side. It’s now known as the Thompson Center on Lourdes.
