A proposal to let people drive golf carts on Appleton streets is going nowhere.
The city council didn’t even debate the issue before voting it down last night.
City spokesman Chad Doran believes that sends a pretty clear message that members don’t think they belong on streets in any neighborhood.
He says someone could try to bring the idea back in the future. Under the city council’s rules, members can’t introduce another golf cart proposal for one year.
Doran says the city did hear a lot of passionate comments from both sides, over the past several weeks.
The proposal would’ve allowed golf carts on streets with a speed limit of up to 25 miles an hour.
