It’s not unusual to see weeds growing out of the cracks in the road, but there is a most unusual plant along I-41 in Neenah this summer.
Three stalks of corn sprouted out of what appears to be a drain along the median wall along I-41 South, by the Winneconne Avenue exit.
Winnebago County Highway Commissioner Ray Palonen says nature will take root wherever it can. He says his work crews have no plans to cut down the corn stalks because the DOT prefers that they don’t work in the median area, for safety reasons.
In case you are wondering, there are cobs on the corn stalks, but drivers should not try to pick it.
