Neighbors and smoke detectors helped keep everyone safe during a fire in Howard last night.
Chief Ed Janke says crews were called to the 2500 block of Lavender Lane just before 11 p.m.
He believes the fire started outside and climbed a wall to burn through the underside of the roof.
He guesses the house will be considered a loss even though there’s minimal damage inside.
He says there’s significant structural damage to the outside.
The cause is still under investigating.
Crews are still searching for cats to see if they got out safely.
