Nearly a dozen lawsuits with potentially millions of dollars at stake are in limbo thanks to a dispute between Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul and Majority Republicans in the Legislature.
GOP lawmakers passed a lame-duck law last year giving the Legislature’s budget committee the final say over settlements. Kaul wants committee members to sign confidentiality agreements but Republicans are refusing. Last month, the state justice department reported that 11 cases are delayed because of the impasse.
The UW-Oshkosh Foundation lawsuit is one of them.
