A doctor is raising concerns about a drop in child vaccination rates.
The state health department says about 92 percent should have the measles, mumps, rubella shot to prevent those diseases from spreading. None of the state’s 72 counties met that mark for five and six-year-old children.
BayCare Clinic Physician Assistant Jaclyn Steinbarger thinks that’s a problem. She says that puts anyone with a weaker immune system, or people who can’t get the vaccine for medical reasons, at risk.
Outagamie County’s immunization rate was 81 percent for five and six year olds last year. It was 81 percent in Brown County and just 76 percent in Door County.
