A lawmaker from Appleton is introducing a bill to bring the remains of soldiers back to the state.
The UW System partnered with the Department of Defense a few years ago to locate people missing in action. It’s found three so far.
Republican Sen. Roger Roth says the process isn’t easy. He says it costs a lot to find, excavate, and move the remains.
Roth’s bill would give the state $180,000 to find up to three soldiers a year. He says having that closure is important for families. More then 1,500 MIA soldiers are from Wisconsin.
