Nearly 40 disaster volunteers from the Wisconsin Red Cross are in the southeast part of the country to help people threatened by Hurricane Dorian.
Agency spokesman Justin Kern says they ramped up that number after seeing the devastation in the Bahamas. He says most of the volunteers are in the Carolinas and Virginia. He says they pre-position people where they think the storm will hit, so they’re already there when people need help.
Kern feels they’re getting close to the recovery phase of the operation. And he says they may send out another wave of volunteers for that.
