There were four percent fewer riders on Valley Transit buses last year.
The bus system provided more than 1.1 million rides in 2019. Almost 945,000 of them were on bus routes.
General Manager Ron McDonald expected a slight decline, with of the weather in January of last year. He says some businesses and schools closed for several days, because of snowstorms and cold temperatures. He says that hurt their numbers.
Route 15 continues to be the busiest, with more than 136-thousand riders. From downtown Appleton, it heads along College Avenue to the area around the Fox River Mall.
Route 30, from downtown Appleton to downtown Neenah, ranks second at more than 106,000 rides.
McDonald says 54 percent of their riders use Valley Transit to get to work.
